Press Finger Printing is the process of defining
the capabilities and requirements for a printing
process under a defined set of conditions. This
information is used to determine what is required to optimize the results of the process, and to measure and control how any changes in the process can affect the final output.

This is a critical component of good production

Typically a four color job is printed to ascertain
dot gain, fine line widths, reverses, bar code orientation, trapping and minimum dot sizes.
